Father,
How precious is Your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. Your steadfast love extends to the heavens.
You have commanded us to love one another just as You have loved us. But we love ourselves more than the people around us. We love ourselves even more than You.
Forgive us for our impatience, for our unkind words and actions, even our unkind thoughts. Forgive us for insisting on our own ways, becoming irritable and resentful. Forgive us for rejoicing in the wrongdoing of others rather than covering them in love.
O God, give us contrite hearts to serve You and only You. Help us to love the way You love us. By Your love, help us to bear all things, believe all things, hope all things and endure all things. We ask all this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
