Radical Agape Youths (RAYs) Ministry

The RAYs Ministry exists to raise up youth to be SAVED, SETTLED, and SENT.

  • SAVED… Because each youth must make their own decision about faith in Jesus!
  • SETTLED… Because each youth is saved into the body of Christ!
  • SENT… Because each youth is saved to bear fruit for Christ!

Bible-based

“I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts.”
Psalm 119:99-100

Experience, expertise, and practical know-how are all immensely valuable. However, nothing comes close to the authoritative and transformative word of God to truly make one wise (even as youth).

Culture-perceiving

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:2

Disciples of Christ or disciples of the culture? Discernment can be trained. What from the culture should be affirmed? Discarded? Or reclaimed under the lordship of Christ?

Action-focused

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
James 1:22

Youthful vigour can be intentionally invested and harnessed. Rather than puffing up with knowledge, it is better for the youth to put biblical truths into practice.

Parents-collaborating

“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”
Ephesians 6:4

Youth ministries play a supportive role to the youth’s primary source of discipleship and instruction: parents. Partnering with parents is a key facet of discipling youth.

Youth-oriented

“I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.”
1 Corinthians 9:22b-23

Rather than being patronising or condescending, a keen interest in the lives, loves, longings, and lingoes of the youth is invaluable in having the gospel both taught and caught.

Church-rooted

“But God has so composed the body […] that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.”
1 Corinthians 12:24b-25

It takes a village to raise a child. Shepherding and discipling youth must not happen independently of the local church body. Every member has something to offer.
