O covenantal God, You are worthy of our whole hearts. As Your people, Your redeemed, our loves and lives must be Yours.
Yet forgive us for being calculative. We do just enough, so we can say we have obeyed. We shrug off Your Spirit’s promptings.
Forgive us for being passive. Too often we take the path of least resistance. Rather than pursuing Your purposes, we chase what everyone else is chasing.
Forgive us for being foolish. Our prosperity is as poverty before You. Our insight, as blindness. Our self-sufficiency, naked wretchedness.
Come, Holy Spirit. Enflame us with zeal! Embolden us with a single mind! Empower us with joy. We ask all these things in Jesus’ name, amen.
