Prayer Ministry

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” ~ Romans 12:12 (ESV)

The Prayer Ministry seeks to cultivate a culture of prayer within Agape Baptist Church. Anchored in Romans 12, we desire to be a people who continually seek God together, depending on Christ, our Chief Intercessor and model of prayer.

Our ministry exists not merely to organise prayer activities, but to encourage the church to become a praying church where prayer is central to discipleship, gospel witness, and the life of the church.

Our Vision

We seek to:

  • Encourage the church to grow as a praying community
  • Intercede faithfully for the church, leaders, members, missions, outreach, communities, and nations
  • Foster a culture where prayer is central to discipleship and church life
  • Encourage believers to live out God’s justice, mercy, love, and care for others, including the future generation

Our Team

We hope to develop individuals who:

  • Demonstrate faithfulness in prayer
  • Possess a heart for people and the church
  • Align with the church’s vision
  • Serve humbly and consistently

Prayer facilitators help lead prayer gatherings, encourage participation, welcome newcomers, and maintain a spiritually safe environment.

Ministry Life

The Prayer Ministry supports the church through regular prayer resources and gatherings.

Weekly Prayer Pointers

Prayer updates are shared through WhatsApp and may include prayer needs relating to:

  • Church ministries and leaders
  • Missions and outreach
  • Community and congregational care
  • National and global concerns
  • Scripture reflections and sermon responses
  • Urgent prayer requests

Members are encouraged to set aside at least one day each week to intercede using these prayer pointers during their personal prayer time.

Prayer Gatherings

We provide opportunities to pray together at least once a month through:

  • Saturday prayer gatherings by phone
  • Sunday morning onsite pre-service prayer meetings
  • Special seasons of prayer, such as church camp and selected church-wide events

These gatherings aim to provide accessible opportunities for both regular and new participants to pray together.

Join Us

We welcome church members who have a burden for prayer or desire deeper involvement in church life. New believers seeking spiritual growth are also welcome.

Through the Prayer Ministry, we seek to grow together in faithful prayer, deeper dependence upon God, and Christ-centred discipleship.
