Father God, You know us. You know our hearts. You know our ways. Father, we are so sorry for the state of our love for You.
Forgive us for our half-hearted love. Forgive us for living as though we could love both You and this world. Forgive us for entertaining our idols. Forgive us for thinking that loving You is just about emotion, not obedience.
Yet forgive us also for our loveless obedience. Forgive us for the ways we narrowly keep rules, and uphold Christian principles – but without any sense of relationship with You.
Father, help us! Help us to reflect You! Help us to glorify You! Use us such that the next generations will see You, and love You. We ask all this in Jesus’ name, amen.
