Father,
Your word tells us the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Yet we have strayed from Your word. Some of us make life to be all about eating, drinking and the things of this world. Some of us are more interested in pursuing worldliness than holiness. Some of us grumble when we don’t get enough of what we want when we want them.
Forgive us for missing the point of Your Holy Kingdom. Forgive us for our lack of gratitude. Forgive us for grieving You with our stiff necks. By Your Holy Spirit, turn us into agents of righteousness. Make us peacemakers in every conflict. Transform us into joyful Christians in this broken world.
Help us remember that in Your presence there is fullness of joy. At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. We pray all this in the precious name of Jesus.
