Father,
Your word declares the gospel is not man’s gospel. It is the very power of God. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory.
Yet, we do not submit ourselves to Your divine authority. Have we not been guilty of using our human wisdom to judge the Bible rather than let the Bible stand as the highest authority to judge us?
Forgive our arrogance! Forgive us for persecuting those whom we consider as beyond redemption, if not with overt hostility, certainly with passive inaction. Forgive us for trying to reach You through religious activities and good works instead of letting Your grace penetrate our hearts.
O Lord, humble our pride so we give You all the praises for making us new. Help us marvel at Your radically transforming grace which redeems even the worst part of us for Your glory. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
