Church Planting FAQs

Strategy & Model

  • The limitation of the “Megachurch” & “Multi-service” models is that they will mainly reach our Pek Kio/ central-Singapore area
  • The limitation of the all the models is that they only reach “Agape”-kind of people
  • Therefore, the “Church Planting” model is the best model for bringing the gospel to all kinds of people, all over Singapore

The purpose is to give the church planting team sufficient time and space to figure out their specific identity, mission, and vision before launching.

The church plant must be gospel-centered and baptistic. However, the church plant will have the freedom to land on its own convictions regarding secondary doctrines.

While the initial goal was to launch in 2027, we are open to extending this timeline as the Lord leads.

The Church Planter

The elders are aware of potential church planters. However, the church planter will be announced once there is greater clarity.

For this first church plant, the elders are looking at candidates within Agape.

The Church Planter must be qualified to be an Elder AND discerned to be called to church-planting.

The Core Team

Approximately 5–10 members.

  • Those who are keen and interested to be part of the Core Team are encouraged to make known their interest!
  • However, those interested will still be subject to a process of discernment to determine if they are called to serve in the capacity of the church plant’s Core Team

Logistics & Finances

It will be dependent on where God is leading the church planter and his team. When the church planter is identified, this will be clearer. However, it is unlikely that the church plant will be close to Agape geographically.

  • This will become clearer once the Church Planter is identified and has submitted his budget proposal.
  • Having said that, we must expect that church planting in Singapore will be a costly endeavour

Impact on the Congregation

  1. Growing in the gospel
  2. Growing in one’s grasp of Church Planting by joining a Church Planting Exposure Trip
  3. Growing in one’s readiness to go as the Lord leads
  4. Giving to the Church Planting Fund
  5. Discovering and Developing one’s giftings through serving the church whether formally or informally
  6. Joining a regular prayer group to saturate our Church Planting journey with prayer
  • We must expect to send out our best to launch this church plant
  • However, we can also expect the Lord to renew Agape as we do so by renewing our leadership, our service, and our creativity
