Father,
You command us to love one another just as You have loved us. It is through our love for one another that we shine as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Yet we often seek to shine through what impresses the world. We take pride in achievements, performances, wealth, knowledge, education, and many other things which are not flowing out of our love for You.
Forgive us for becoming comfortable selectively loving some but not others, especially the least among us. Forgive us for lacking faith in You when loving one another becomes risky or costly. Forgive us if we have made worshipping You anything but loving one another.
Lord, would you give us the power to love like You. Give us new eyes to see those who are invisible to us. Help us to shine for You as people of love and faith. Use us to be the source of joy and comfort so the hearts of others may be refreshed. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
