Father,
Your word tells us that Jesus is the image of You, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things were created through Him and for Him.
But, why do we worship created things rather than the Creator? Why do we worship silver and gold, the work of human hands? They have mouths, but do not speak; they have eyes, but do not see; they have ears, but do not hear, nor is there any breath in their mouths.
Lord, forgive us for loving the world more than You. Forgive us for worshipping worthless things and trusting in all kinds of false gods. Forgive us for giving our love and devotion to our work rather than You.
Father, let the words of our mouths and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, our Rock and our Redeemer. We pray and ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
