Father,
All authority in heaven and earth has been given to Jesus. His authority is good and perfect. His authority is life giving and sacrificial. His authority is love incarnate.
Why do we not submit to such divine authority? Why do we forget that we are Your servants and rebel against You as our Master? Why do we find it so hard to endure unjust suffering?
Is it not because we do not trust You? Is it not because we doubt Your goodness? Forgive us for responding to suffering as if You have failed us. Forgive us for refusing to follow in the footsteps of the suffering of Jesus.
O God, help us to entrust ourselves to Jesus who judges justly. Help us to walk in the righteousness of Your Son even when we are reviled. Help us to eagerly submit to the voice of the Good Shepherd who laid down His life for us. In His name, we pray. Amen.
