Father,
Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides You. You promise to give us the desires of our hearts.
Yet, our hearts wander elsewhere for satisfaction. Our desires lead us to worship a thousand things besides You. Why do we come alive when we seek the pleasures of the world? Why is awe not stirred up when we gaze upon the beauty of Jesus?
Forgive us for sinning against You and You only. Forgive us for failing to repent from our unbridled lust. Forgive us for running towards the path of destruction. Forgive us for all the people we have hurt along the way.
Help us to long for You and seek You diligently. For You give water to everyone who thirsts. You invite us to Your table to eat and drink. You give wine and milk to Your children without money and price. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
