Over this week, we have been reminded in many ways that our city-state is far more broken than we could have possibly imagined. The spiritual truth that we are here in exile seems more real than ever before. What is God’s answer to the brokenness we see in our city? How do we cope with the seemingly never-ending stream of bad news? In 1 Peter 1:22-25, Peter exhorts the believers, situated in a similar world of suffering, to love one another earnestly. This earnest love flows from the power of God’s good news, which offers hope to everyone in this broken world.
