Father,
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Why do we utter these words but not trust You whole-heartedly? Why do we forget Your teaching and not keep Your commandments diligently? Why do we forsake Your steadfast love and faithfulness as if they are worthless?
Forgive us for trusting in the world rather than in You. Forgive us for leaning on our own understanding and arrogantly thinking we know better. Forgive us for seeking You only in our crisis.
Help us to fear You so we may be guided by Your perfect wisdom. Help us to honour You with our time and money. Grant us favour and good success. More than anything else, help us to trust You with all our hearts. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
