Father, You have heard our many difficulties in trying to encounter You. Many times we say: “God is far from me”; “God’s word is dry”; “God’s church is uninspiring”.
But Lord, You search our hearts. You know our ways. Nothing is hidden from You. Have we truly sought You with all our hearts? Do we really desire You above all else? Lord, You know!
Father, forgive us! Forgive us for seeking You on our own terms – and not on Yours. Forgive us for being half-hearted and passive, rather than zealously active.
Holy God, we humble ourselves under Your mighty hand. Above emotion, duty, and curiosity – we draw near to You by faith. Cleanse our hands! Purify our hearts! Draw near to us, as we draw near to You.
We ask all this in the name of the Way, Jesus Christ. Amen.
