Father,
You are merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin. Our hope is rooted in Your goodness and faithfulness.
We confess that we often brush aside Your steadfast love as if it is inferior. Sometimes we think Your mercy is insufficient to cover our many transgressions.
Forgive us for placing our ultimate hope in everything except You. Forgive us for abusing Your faithfulness with our adulterous hearts. Forgive us for trusting in created things to give us peace, harmony, health, long life, and prosperity.
Help us to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness and believe that You will provide all that we need. We are thankful that there is always hope in You. Help us to be refreshed by Your mercies that are new every morning. Help our souls to anchor our hope firmly in You alone. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
